First round in the Nordic Jetski Cup - Harjavalta, Finland

Finland hosted the premiere race of the Nordic Jetski Cup during a warm weekend in Harjavalta. The 69 entries from 6 different countries made a good foundation for the competition.

Beside the Nordic countries there were riders from Latvia, Estonia and Russia so it was truly an international race weekend. The race site was on the river and Finland showed itself at its best with 35 degrees and sun all weekend. Two splits were used in each end of the big course and the riders seemed happy with the track. There was a lot of passing during the weekend, which made the races really fun to watch for the spectators.

There were many riders at the line at each start and the biggest class for the weekend was Ski Lite with 16 riders on the line. Markus Engvall, Stian Schjetlein and Smurf Mangerud battled all the way for the victory in Ski Lite, and the final result became Smurf on top of the podium followed by Engvall and Schjetlein.
Juniors and ladies raced together and made some exciting racing. The juniors were dominating by the girls this weekend and one of the juniors really played with the big girls. As the junior Jonna Borgstrøm passed the far more experienced riders in the ladies class the spectators went ecstatic. It makes good expectations for the future to come.

The next race in the Nordic Jetski cup will be in Henån, Sweden 31st July and 1st August where we had 100 riders last year. The final will be in Drammen, Norway 21st August. A race with thousands of spectators in the middle of the city. Hope to see lots of riders in the next two races as well.
